1/11/2016 – We purchased a boat that has been kept here for 10 years and our dealings with the Harbourmaster, Jake McMillan, were professional and timely. He calls you back and emails you when he says he will.  He helped make our transition from HHI to FL a smooth and pleasant one by working with us to keep the boat there another 1/2 month before we could have it transported.

1/2/2016 – This place is hard to improve upon as its in a great location, VERY protected, beautiful homes that rival any you will see at harbors in SC.  Top that with great people running the harbor (Jake and Zach). When you come into the lock, don’t worry as they have nice rubber bumpers and lines for you.  The ride up and down is smooth.  You may have an initial surge for or aft….but it quickly reverses and the largest or smallest boats ride up and down with relatively little motion.  We docked a 30′ sailboat here in the late 90s and just returned with our 42′ cruiser.  Brought back great memories and it has gotten even better with age.

11/20/2015 – Going through a lock into and out of the marina is a unique experience. Inside it is very protected.  Long finger piers with power and water on the end of the finger so bow in for all boats makes sense. Going to spend a month there in the spring if they have room! Zac and Jake, the dockmasters are very helpful. South Carolina Yacht Club meal was great.

10/30/2015 – The entire staff at Windmill Harbour is great. We especially thank the dockmaster ZAC for his help. The marina has a lock so there is no tidal change or boat wakes that you will have to deal with. Best night sleep we have aboard. The marina is very quiet and located in a basin surrounded by homes. There is an very nice olympic size swiimming pool and tennis courts for your use. The facility has very nice showers and a small laundry facility. (1 dryer / 1 washer). The South Carolina Yacht club is located here and offers lunch and dinner and Sunday brunch to transients from Wed thru Sun (cash or check only). You can also an enjoy a mile walk around the basin to enjoy the homes and other boats.

9/5/2015 – I rented a slip here for about 5 months while waiting on a slip at my home marina. Windmill Harbour is a well protected marina. Lock access so no current or tide. Also, the harbor is surrounded by tall homes so wind is virtually nonexistent. Harbour Master Jake and his staff are the best and extremely friendly and helpful. I never had to wait for lock-in and out unless another boat was using the lock. Jake and staff were very quick to provide lock and gas services. Slip rental rates are competitive with all local marinas and better than many.

4/25/2015 – It’s an interesting marina to get into as they have a lock that you use. Fixed docks but with the lock controlling the depth it’s not a problem. Dockhands were great, quick to help out. We had a large part delivered and they took it to our boat on one of their carts. We ate at the SC Yacht club on site. Food was very good and the crab soup was some of the best we’ve had.

1/11/2015 – This is one of the few locked marina’s on the east coast and is superb in every way. This is home to the SC Yacht Club. A good overnight stop.

9/17/2014 – Been here many times. As others have said, very safe, very clean, you are in a gated community once you pass through the lock. One of my favorites.

8/2/2013 – We have stayed at many marinas. This tops them all. It is very secure, clean, well maintained, constant water level, attractive garbage cans convenient to boat, great dog walk areas, gorgeous surroundings and friendly, helpful staff.

En tercer lugar, ahorrar en calefacción conduce inevitablemente a una temporada de frío más intensa: la gente enferma más a menudo debido a las bajas temperaturas de sus hogares.

2/1/2013 – Since this is one of the very few locked marinas on the East Coast, you can forget about tides (except for ingress and egress) and currents while here. Except for the fairway between the Sound and the entrance to the lock which is about 5′ at MLW, you’ll have about 10′ throughout the marina. The Dockmaster, Jake, and all of the employees are super-helpful and friendly. We never had to wait for them to lock us in or out of the marina. A few minutes heads-up on the radio and somebody was at the lock by the time we arrived. The marina iteslf is very sheltered both because of the lock and the surrounding buildings. Our boat was there as Hurricane Sandy passed offshore on its way north, and the marina barely felt its effect. You can make use of the South Carolina Yacht Club facilities adjacent to the marina if you are a member of the Club or a participating club. It is a first-class operation.
